FAQ on the merge

What's happening?

Tropedia, The True Tropes Wiki, and Official Tropes are merging to make a single tropes wiki on Fandom.

What does that mean?

True Tropes Wiki and Official Tropes will be closed and redirected to Tropedia.

All unique pages on all wikis will be preserved (although some may be deleted after the merge), all pages found on two or more of the wikis will be kept or copied over, with the "kept" page being the most recently edited.

What about templates and images?

These will be copied over, with resolution of any naming conflicts.

What about Discussions?

Unfortunately we can't copy over Discussions, so history will be lost there. But Tropedia's Discussion space will still be available.

How will we know what came from where?

True Tropes and Official Tropes pages will be put in a category to reflect their source. Anything without those categories will be from Tropedia.

What about admins?

The two active admins from each merged wiki will join RRabbit42 and SelfCloak as admins or admin/bureaucrats here.

What about policies?

That's something that's down to you, the admins and users of the merged wiki. You will need to work out what will work best for the community as a whole (with Fandom's over-all policies being followed of course)

What if I'm banned on Tropedia?

Unbans will be up to the combined admin group, although I strongly encourage them to be lenient and give people a chance to show they can work with the expanded community.

I expect a few bumps on the way, there are three different communities involved, with their own style and norms. But the core is the same so I hope, with your help, it will work out.

This Wiki Will Be Merging With Tropedia

Hi, I'm one of Fandom's community staff, and I have a difficult conversation to have.

You may have seen this on some admin message walls, but the basic problem is that we have too many Tropes. Specifically we have 3 large trope wikis at Tropedia (https://tropedia.fandom.com ), The True Tropes ( https://the-true-tropes.fandom.com/ ), and Official Tropes ( https://official-tropes.fandom.com/ )

We used to allow duplicate wikis, but now we've moved towards "one wiki per topic". This is a flexible rule to some extent - we have a DC wiki and a Wonder Woman wiki, not to mention a DC Fanon wiki (let's not mention ''any'' fanon wiki... please.) But the trope wikis are three very similar wikis with lots of exact crossovers (and not-exact, we'll get to that later.). There are also some mature topics covered by these pages, and we have specific platform rules for this content, so it is much easier for us to enforce this standard with one wiki rather than try to maintain consistent standards across multiple communities.

So the plan is to merge the True Tropes and Official Tropes into the oldest and biggest and most viewed wiki, Tropedia. As you can imagine this is a big undertaking. Where there are duplicate pages there will have to be choices as to which version "wins", with some pages left behind despite there being good content on them. There will be images and templates that need to be copied over which may have name clashes that need to be resolved. We have also been talking with the Tropedia admin team about reviewing blocks and policies as well as adding additional admins from the absorbed communities.

This is going to happen quickly. You should see things starting to happen this afternoon. To prevent further complications, this wiki is now closed to editing.

I'm here for any questions, and I imagine there will be a lot of them.

Attention! Massive image upload ahead!

In the next weeks, I'll upload some ten thousand pics for this wiki. Those are the original ones, so we'll finally have them.

This may lead to some inconveniences in case you had uploaded a missing image in the time between. Please understand that some of your images might be overwritten. This will happen maximally once per image, though.

The official "Complete Monster" thread

Add new CMs here, or discuss about them in general.

For a start, here's a new entry, from the 1920's novel City without Jews: A member of the Austrian parliament, a Wenzel Krötzl of the antisemitic Großdeutsche party. He's not only a rabid antisemite and The Alcoholic, he's also an outspoken pedosexual, and a pusher of houses which the evicted Jews had to sell. And a big hypocrite to boot.

Alexandra Quick: Book 6 is out!

If you like HP fanfiction which is Darker and Edgier (tm), this may be something for you. In case you don't know it: It's set in the US, and author Inverarity went to great lengths to think up a very original magic America, which new monsters, spells, wizard organizations, etc.

On April 1st (yes, no joke) Book 6 ("Alexandra Quick and the Wizard War") started to be published. (And our wiki page was even faster than TV Tropes to announce this!)

The City Without Jews

This is an Austrian novel/expressionist Film based on it from the Roaring Twenties. It deals with the premise of what'd have happened if between the World Wars, Austria had decided to evict all the Jews. Despite of the serious topic, very entertaining and with a happy ending.

Since I like it very much, I made the page for it.

An explanation for Admiral Motti's jerkassery

People have mentioned him on the "What an Idiot!" page for good reason.

So why does he do something that idiotic? Thinking about it, I got this idea: SW isn't a live documentary, right? So we should rather assume that (supposed) real events were dumbed down in the film somewhat because Vierwers are Morons.

The real events were rather like this: Of course Motti had to say something about Vader having failed to find the secret base or the stolen data. But obv. he couldn't say that straight, esp. not to Vader. So we rather have to imagine that he sugarcoated his critique about six times. Ideally in a way, so only Vader could guess what he actually meant, with the boss not losing face. (Especially since Vader's helmet reminds of a samurai...)

But it still didn't work, Vader force-choked him, and everyone else probably was "WTH? Why did Vader do that? Motti had been nothing but respectful to him..."

Rules for "You Know That Thing Where..."

To create a new trope:

Create a new page in your user space, like this:
Add a description, maybe a fitting image, and as many examples you can think of. Mention possible indexes. Add redirects if you think you'll need them.
Start a discussion in this category. Tag it with the new page.
Other tropers may add examples to the new page, as long as they fit.
As soon as you have at least three examples, and three tropers have noticed the trope, you can move the page into the pages namespace.
Add the new page under all appropriate indexes.
IMPORTANT: Don't steal content from that original trope wiki, unless the author explicitly allowed you to do so.

Is there's any universe where All Superpowered Beings that exists in the world are nothing but non-sentient ones?

Janna2000 on the regular Tv tropes fandom blocked me again for no reason.

Janna2000 decided to block me for no reason what so ever again on my account called Mikagirl1234, and they said I was abusing multiple accounts, but that’s not true that’s a huge lie, and this time I was being nice to them and I told them why they deleted my edits, but that person ended up blocking me when this time I was literally being polite to them, that’s how much of a jerk they are because they didn’t even listen to me about why they deleted my edits, please help me and contact Janna2000 to please unblock me.

You guys Janna2000 on the regular Tv tropes fandom blocked me again for no reason what so ever, and got rid of my edits again, if you don’t know my other accounts were banned because that person who is a admin, but all they do is get rid of certain peoples edits and block them for no reason whatsoever, please talk to them to unblock me and let me keep my edits and say that they shouldn’t remove stuff that is actually true, and they said that I was abusing multiple accounts, but that’s not true that’s a huge lie, and most of my edits were true, and Janna2000 is just a stupid and dumb person who gets rid of peoples edits and blocks them for no reason whatsoever, please talk to them they don’t deserve to be a admin.

Stock Hood Film Protagonist

What most hood film protagonists in common is that they are gangsters/street people who are struggling to survive in crime-ridden neighborhoods. I wonder if it can be a trope.
